House Republican Rep. Mike Waltz is demanding that the US military academy at West Point cease teaching cadets critical race theory, in a new letter submitted to Superintendent Lt. Gen. Darry Williams.
Waltz, a former Green Beret and Afghan War veteran, said in the letter to the head of the upstate New York academy that the theory is “divisive,” and “terrifying and destructive,” Fox News reported Wednesday.
“I think it is incredibly divisive,” Waltz told Fox.
“The underlying piece of critical race theory is that civilian institutions in this country are inherently misogynist, racist, and colonialist, and therefore it is our duty to resist them,” the Florida Republican said.
“That is fine for activists,” he said. “But one of these cadets is going to be the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, and being taught that the Consitution is critically flawed?”
Waltz has said he was first approached by concerned West Point parents in April,
