Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), a 2026 Florida gubernatorial candidate, said he would like to repeal the 16th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
The 16th Amendment reads:
The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.

“I would love to repeal sixteen,” Donalds said.
“But if you’re going to repeal the 16th Amendment, we have to start flipping other states to be more like Florida,” he continued.
“People need to understand that their right to their own incomes is fundamental,” he added.
