Glenn Youngkin labels Democrat opponent Terry McAuliffe a ‘creature of the swamp’

Virginia Republican gubernatorial candidate Glenn Youngkin blasted former Democrat Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s campaign, dubbing McAuliffe a “creature of the swamp,” during an exclusive interview with SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Saturday.

During the one-on-one interview, Youngkin, who recently received President Donald Trump’s endorsement, stated that support for his campaign continues to grow and that he’s confident he will win the governor’s race which takes place in November.

“This campaign has got an enormous amount of momentum,” Youngkin said. “It went from a year ago, nobody thinking a Republican had a chance, to the Cook Political Report coming out now saying this thing’s a toss up. We have so much momentum on the road and we’re going to win this thing.”

When asked about his reaction to the report predicting the election could be a “toss up,” amid numerous television ads pushed by leftist groups, Youngkin said it is all happening out of desperation. “Well, remember they’re desperate now. I mean, every morning you wake up and there’s literally a ‘4 alarm fire’ article about what’s going on inside the McAuliffe campaign,” the Republican candidate said.

“You’ve got the White House questioning whether Terry can win or not, and what that means to their broad legislative agenda, which is why I’m so intent on beating him. And you’ve got a 43 year politician, that’s what Terry McAuliffe is, he is a “creature of the swamp,” said Youngkin. “I mean, if Bill and Hillary Clinton had a son, it would be Terry McAuliffe, and his uncle would be Joe Biden.”

Virginia’s governor’s race is seen as a possible bellwether election, giving insight to how future elections may turn out in liberal areas across the country. Joe Biden won the state, which borders Washington D.C., in the 2020 presidential election with 54.1 percent of the state’s vote, with Trump receiving 44 percent.

The 2016 presidential election results in Virginia were of an even smaller margin. Hillary Clinton won against President Trump by a slim margin of about 5.3 percent.

According to Youngkin, there are many factors that have played into the possibility of turning this Democrat leaning state, to a possible win for Republicans.

“First of all, we in fact are going to make sure our schools are open and never close again,” said the candidate. “Terry McAuliffe wants to mandate everything. He’s mandating vaccines for everyone and he wants
