Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has been ordered to pay $1.36 million in legal fees stemming from his involvement in activities challenging President Donald Trump’s 2020 election defeat.
Judge Arthur Engoron issued the ruling on Tuesday to settle the lawsuit brought by Robert Costello, a lawyer from the firm Davidoff Hutcher & Citron LLP, according to the Associated Press. Giuliani had claimed that he never received any legal invoices. However, Engoron rejected that claim.
Engoron also ruled that Giuliani must pay interest to Costello, bringing his total owed to approximately $1.6 million. The former mayor is also responsible for legal fees that Costello and his firm paid when filing the lawsuit to recover Giuliani’s unpaid lawyer fees, the Associated Press reported.
