Germany to Restart Coal-Fired Power Plants After Russia Reduces Gas Supplies to Europe; President Trump Warned Germany (VIDEO)


Germany’s economy minister said Sunday that the country will limit the use of natural gas for electricity production amid concerns about possible shortages caused by a cut in supplies from Russia.

Economy Minister Robert Habeck said that Germany will restart coal-fired power plants and offer companies incentives to reduce natural gas consumption.

“That’s bitter, but it’s simply necessary in this situation to lower gas usage,” said Habeck, a member of the environmentalist Green party.

Berlin made the announcement on Sunday, a week after Russia cut gas supplies to Europe in response to European sanctions and military support for Ukraine.
