The national average price for a gallon of regular gas slightly increased to $2.875 to begin February. Monday’s price at the pumps was a minimal increase from Sunday, the first of the new month, when regular gas was $2.87 per gallon.
Overall, gas prices have varied over the last 30 days. Monday’s price point was actually a slight decrease from a week ago, when a gallon of regular gas was $2.88, according to AAA. However, the $2.87 per gallon price on Monday was higher than a month ago, when fuel cost $2.83. The price fluctuation followed gas prices hitting $2.79 per gallon on Jan. 12, the lowest amount for a gallon of regular gas in almost 5 years.
