Gas prices are on the decline.
The national average price for a gallon of regular gas dropped on Friday to $3.145, according to AAA.
Friday’s price was a slight decrease from Thursday, when regular gas was $3.152 per gallon. It was also less expensive than a week ago when the fuel costs were $3.18 per gallon. And to complete the trifecta, Friday’s price was lower than a month ago, when a gallon of regular gas cost $3.234.

The biggest sign of relief at the pumps is that Friday’s gas price is significantly lower than at this point last year. In May 2024, the average cost for a gallon of regular gas was $3.641. Most of the decrease in gas prices happened during the summer and autumn
