French Election: Anti-Liberal Thinker Eric Zemmour is the Most Popular Right-Wing Candidate, Poll Reveals


A pair of shock polls released this month by Harris Interactive have both placed Eric Zemmour, an anti-liberal thinker and staunch defender of French culture and identity, just in front of populist leader Marine Le Pen, but behind incumbent candidate Emmanuel Macron in the first round of France’s presidential election.

The two surveys – published on October 6, then on October 13 – revealed that Zemmour would garner 17 to 18 percent of the vote, ahead of National Rally leader Marine Le Pen who secured 16 percent in each poll, but also well behind French President Emmanuel Macron who took 27 percent of the vote.
