Florida to ensure no one is discriminated against based on Covid vaccine status

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis intends to protect Floridians from discrimination based on Covid vaccination status.  

During a recent press conference on his administration’s efforts to cut prescription drug costs for Floridians, Governor DeSantis revealed that he is working on legislation that would make the provisions contained in Florida House Bill 1B (2021) permanent law.

The bill, which contains a sunset clause that expires on June 1, prohibits private employers, educational institutions, various government agencies, etc., from imposing Covid-19 vaccine or mask mandates and prohibits discrimination on such grounds.    

According to the governor, discrimination on such grounds “should not even be an issue.” He further noted that Floridians should be protected against mask mandates. Such mandates, in his opinion, are “irrational,”
