Fauci not in contact with Biden transition team and still plans to aid Trump until January


Dr. Anthony Fauci has no plans to transition his efforts to President-elect Joe Biden when there’s still so much work to do in the coming months, he said.

Fauci, a member of the White House coronavirus task force, said he had not been in contact with anyone from the Biden transition team about his guidance on the coronavirus pandemic.

“There’s absolutely no reason and no sense at all for me to stop doing something in the middle of a pandemic that is playing a major role in helping us get out of the pandemic,” Fauci told Reuters.

Fauci has served on the president’s task force since January, even though he and President Trump have sometimes been at odds in their approach to combating the coronavirus.

Fauci added that if he were to advise Biden, he would still recommend that people socially distance, avoid crowds, wear masks, and wash hands frequently.
