The photos actually show the late actor Heath Ledger playing the role of the Joker in the 2008 film “The Dark Knight.”

Fact Check:

Protests against racial injustice and police brutality have occurred in cities across the U.S. following the May 25 death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody. During the demonstrations, there have been some clashes between police and protesters, according to CNBC.

Social media users shared a screen grab of a tweet that purportedly shows a police officer who was disfigured when “an ANTIFA thug threw bricks covered in razor blades.” Antifa, short for anti-fascist, is a loosely affiliated group of far-left-leaning activists who have on some occasions attacked police and journalists during protests, per Vox.

But the photos don’t show a police officer disfigured by an antifa activist. In reality, they depict Ledger playing the role of the Joker in the movie “The Dark Knight.” The photos come from a scene in which the Joker impersonates a police officer.
