A Pennsylvania inmate who escaped nearly two weeks ago is now considered “armed and extremely dangerous” after police say he stole a rifle from a homeowner’s garage.
Danelo Cavalcante, a 34-year-old illegal immigrant from Brazil, escaped from the Chester County Prison around 8:30 a.m. on August 31, just a couple of weeks after being convicted of killing his ex-girlfriend. On Tuesday morning, Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens said that the homeowner fired several shots at Cavalcante when the prisoner stole his rifle, according to CNN.
Police do not believe Cavalcante was injured in the shootout and is believed to be in Chester County’s South Coventry Township as of Monday night.
