Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) said she was “very proud” of Harvard University for opposing the Trump administration’s demands regarding the school’s diversity policies and its response to campus antisemitism, which have escalated in recent weeks between the Ivy League school and the White House.
The Trump administration has been warring with Harvard, accusing it of failing to crack down on antisemitic protests and, most recently, suggesting that the university could lose its tax-exempt status since having this status is “totally contingent” on acting in the public interest. Warren, however, said she is looking for “the offramp” in this conflict, saying that people are questioning why the White House is seeking to cut the school’s “research grants.”
