East Coast prepares for weekend threat of debilitating snow, ice


Weather forecasters’ predictions of debilitating snow and ice from New York to as far south as Georgia sent parts of the region into a tizzy Friday with shoppers scouring store shelves for storm supplies and road crews trying to prevent a repeat of past wintertime debacles.

New York City could receive a wintry mix of snow on Sunday night. Long Island is expected to receive a mixture of snow, ice and rain leading into Monday.

AccuWeather forecasts predict 12 to 18 inches of snow to hit the ground in parts of New York such as Buffalo and Syracuse as the winter storm makes its way Northeast.
