DNC election for David Hogg’s successor heads to runoff vote


The Democratic National Committee‘s election to fill a second vice chair position after David Hogg decided not to run again for the position is headed to a runoff vote.

DNC members previously reelected Malcolm Kenyatta as vice chairman after the organization voted to redo the elections, in the aftermath of a challenge from an unsuccessful candidate in February.

Hogg opted not to seek the vice chairmanship, as it appeared he would be ousted from the position after he angered Democrats by launching a $20 million initiative to replace elderly Democrats with younger candidates in primary elections.

On Tuesday, DNC members failed to elect a second vice chair, with Shasti Conrad pulling nearly 44% of the vote, Kalyn Free receiving roughly 37% of the vote, and Jeanna Repass
