Dick Cheney’s funeral date announced: What to know 


Former Vice President Dick Cheney’s funeral will be held at the Washington National Cathedral in the nation’s capital on Nov. 20 at 11 a.m.

The Lincoln, Nebraska, native died on Nov. 3 in Wyoming while in retirement and surrounded by family after having suffered from pneumonia, cardiac, and vascular disease-related complications at the age of 84. Cheney is survived by his wife, Lynn, and two daughters, Liz and Mary. 

While it is unclear if Cheney’s casket would lie at the Capitol Rotunda in the U.S. Capitol prior to his funeral service, Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) said Republican leadership staff were reviewing the “protocol” for the former vice president to lie in state.
