The Department of Defense has awarded OpenAI a $200 million contract to provide the U.S. government with artificial intelligence tools.
“Under this award, the performer will develop prototype frontier AI capabilities to address critical national security challenges in both warfighting and enterprise domains,” the Defense Department stated.

According to CNBC, the one-year contract follows OpenAI saying it would collaborate with defense technology startup Anduril to utilize AI systems for “national security missions.”
“Today we’re launching OpenAI for Government, a new initiative focused on bringing our most advanced AI tools to public servants across the United States,” OpenAI said Monday.
