Columbia’s Interim President Steps Down After Trump Admin Funding Clash


Columbia University’s interim president Katrina Armstrong has stepped down.

This comes after pressure from the Trump administration over federal funding.

The White House recently cut funds to the school, prompting a standoff over campus policies.

Armstrong will return to head Columbia’s medical center.

Board co-chair Claire Shipman is stepping in as acting president while the search continues.

And who is Claire Shipman?

She’s an American television journalist and the former senior national correspondent for ABC’s Good Morning America.

She also co-wrote a feminist ’empowering’ book for women, The Confidence Code.
