President Joe Biden’s attorneys acknowledged Monday that several classified documents from Biden’s time as Vice President were discovered in a private office last fall. Attorney General Merrick Garland asked the US attorney in Chicago to investigate, a source familiar with the matter told CNN.
Another source reportedly told CNN fewer than a dozen classified documents were found, and it remains unclear as to what the documents reference, why they were taken, or why they were in Biden’s private office at all.
Federal employees who hold office are required by law to relinquish all classified records upon leaving their position. CNN reports:
