Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) expressed gratitude over the Supreme Court’s ruling that will allow the deportation of illegal immigrants to resume but argued that it is not a win the administration should take “to the bank.”
The Supreme Court’s 5-4 decision on Monday, which lifted U.S. District Judge James Boasberg’s temporary restraining order against the administration using the Alien Enemies Act, allows President Donald Trump to resume deporting alleged Venezuelan gang members with the 1798 statute. Roy argued that Trump is doing “the right thing” with his deportation of suspected gang members. The congressman also celebrated the Supreme Court’s ruling against the “activist judge” Boasberg for trying to stop the administration.
