CDC hit with new workforce cuts, including some in error


The New York Times reported that the new workforce cuts, which hit multiple government agencies on Friday night, affected hundreds of CDC employees. Those included two leaders of the measles response team, members of the Epidemic Intelligence Service who respond to disease outbreaks, and staff at the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, considered the agency’s flagship publication.

But at least some of those layoffs, which were decried by a former top CDC official under the administration as “devastating to Americans and to the global community,” have been sent in error.
