While appearing Tuesday on The Ingraham Angle, Essayli said the riots have “not deterred” the federal government from arresting illegal immigrants.
“Let me be clear. Despite these riots, we are still enforcing immigration laws,” Essayli said. “We have lots of teams going out every day, and they are arresting criminal illegal immigrants throughout Los Angeles County. We have not been deterred. And we are being successful in that mission.”
Protests in Los Angeles against federal immigration officers conducting illegal immigration raids turned violent over the weekend, causing President Donald Trump to deploy the National Guard to Los Angeles. It was the first time the National Guard was deployed without a governor’s consent since 1965. Trump also sent Marines to the city on Monday for additional support.
