California is set to spend millions to rectify errors found in a voter guide for Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D-CA) upcoming special election on redistricting efforts.
The 2025 Voter Information Guide was mailed to around 8.5 million voters in the Golden State to provide them with data about Proposition 50. Newsom spearheaded the ballot initiative, which California Democrats hope will help their party pick up five more seats in the House, where the GOP holds a narrow majority.
However, after the voter guide was mailed out to millions ahead of the Nov. 4 election, California Secretary of State Shirley Weber announced this week that the state’s Legislative Analyst’s Office made a labeling error in a map in the guide depicting proposed congressional districts.
