A 21-year-old British woman was mauled to death by her brother’s dog — which he adopted in hopes the pooch would also help his sister with her mental health struggles, an inquest heard.
Keira Ladlow, a kickboxer who suffered from an unstable personality disorder, was found dead in her brother’s home in Birmingham after she was attacked by Staffordshire bull terrier cross on Feb. 5, the inquest heard, according to The Sun.
Ladlow’s brother, Kayden Barrett, told the Birmingham Coroners’ Court that when he returned from work he found his sister lying face down in the lounge with the dog, Gucci, “cowering in the corner,” according to the outlet.
“I panicked and did not know what to do. I’ve always protected her. I feel responsible even though there was nothing I could have done that day,” Barrett told the inquest.
