Blinken arrives in Middle East to push ceasefire deal after hostage rescue


United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in the Middle East on Monday where he will meet with senior leaders to discuss the current ceasefire proposal that would halt Israel’s war against Hamas.

Blinken’s trip to the region, where he’ll meet with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in Cairo, Egypt, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem, comes after four Israeli hostages were rescued in an Israeli operation that also resulted in the deaths of scores of Palestinians as well as an Israeli government shake-up.
