Authorities Silent Following Rescue of 21 Kidnapping Victims in Cartel-Dominated Mexican Border City

Authorities in the northern Mexican state of Tamaulipas are keeping quiet following the recent rescue of 21 individuals who had been kidnapped by cartel operatives and were allegedly in the process of being forced into criminal service. The victims—most of whom are originally from Tamaulipas—had been abducted over a period of time and held against their will, some for several months.
