Nearly two dozen Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department recruits were struck by a vehicle during a morning jog early Wednesday morning, including at least five in critical condition, according to authorities.
The incident occurred in the South Whittier area along Mills Road around 6:30 a.m. Pacific Time during a training exercise. Whittier is located about 20 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles.
“It is hard to see, because these young people are getting ready to go put themselves in the line of danger in their career.
