A fire in Greer, Arizona has burned 7,052 acres and has yet to be contained as of Wednesday evening.
It is the largest of two active wildfires burning in the state. Since it sparked on Tuesday, winds have contributed to its spread. On Wednesday, the area experienced 45-mile-an-hour winds.
“More than 400 personnel are assigned to the incident including, hotshot crews, hand crews, engines, water tenders, dozers, and helicopters,” the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management said in a statement.
As a result, State Route 260 near Greer is closed in both directions, including a stretch where it merges with State Route 261 into Three Point Mountain Trailhead. State Route 373 had its southbound lane closed near the town.
