Every victim involved in the American Airlines commercial plane collision with a military helicopter last week has been recovered.
Officials announced Tuesday that the remains of 67 people — 64 from the plane and three from the helicopter — have been recovered. The District of Columbia chief medical examiner said 66 of the 67 remains recovered have been positively identified.
The medical examiner is still trying to positively identify the last set of remains.
“Our hearts are with the victims’ families as they navigate this tragic loss,” recovery operation officials said in a statement. “We extend our deepest condolences and remain committed to supporting them through this difficult time.”
