Four people were hurt when a car slammed into a homeless encampment on a Los Angeles sidewalk early Tuesday, trapping one person beneath the vehicle, authorities said.
A white sedan crashed into the homeless camp in the 500 block of South Virgil Avenue at about 6 a.m. Tuesday in the city’s Koreatown section. One man who had been in the encampment was trapped underneath the car, Los Angeles police told The Post.
Fire officials said a heavy rescue truck responded to the scene and removed the car, freeing the trapped man who was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Three people who were inside the car were also hospitalized, LAPD Det. Meghan Aguilar said.
“It looks to be an accident at this time,” Aguilar said Tuesday, adding that it was “very lucky” that no one else was seriously hurt.
No arrests had been made in the ongoing investigation by police and fire officials, Aguilar said. The
